For Ohly’s innovation department at our headquarters in Hamburg, Germany, we are looking for a Scientist Biocatalysis/Biochemistry (m/f).
The Role & Your Tasks
As Scientist you are responsible for taking the scientific lead in new product development innovation projects. You come up with new technology push project ideas and translate customer requests and Ohly’s strategic objectives into market pull new product ideas, give input about the technical feasibility of ideas and establish the overall work plan (including required resources and time line) to achieve the deliverables. You execute experiments as well as supervise technicians. You remaining up-to-date with the status of the relevant technologies and of the technologies used by companies working in similar fields, recognize or steer to patentable results, and maintain a network with universities, knowledge institutes and scientists at customers.
You have a PhD in biocatalysis/ cellular and biophysical biochemistry and preferably 1-2 years of professional experience, preferably in the biotechnology industry or as a Post-doc. You have a broad scientific interest, in depth know how of enzymes and their capabilities and an affinity to the feed and health sector. You obtain energy from executing applied research, and are able to recognize new business opportunities. You are a self-starter, able to deal with and handle changing priorities and have a good command of English, both spoken and written.
