Vitamins are important to maintain vital producing cells as vitamins are (precursors of) cofactors, regulators or important antioxidants in the cells. In the case where an organism has difficulties producing vitamins itself, or in the production processes in which an enzyme with a specific co-factor is produced, the vitamin levels in regular yeast extracts might not be sufficient. For these processes, OHLY® CMVF was developed. This is a yeast extract with a high content of free amino acids, enriched by addition of extra vitamins.
