Yeast extracts are a rich source of palatants, feed ingredients which enhance the taste of feed so that animals eat more and get the vital nutrients they need.
Ohly palatants provide an umami boost and specific taste notes whilst also masking the unpleasant taste of functional feed additives and veterinary medicines. They are a rich source of nutritious compounds which are particularly suited to carnivorous animals. How yeast-based ingredients enhance palatability
One of the most useful things about yeast is the free amino acids it provides. Glutamic acid intensifies and draws out savoury umami flavours, making pet food products much more appealing and natural-tasting. Nucleotides – like the ones in our animal growth support products – also aid palatability.
These elements occur naturally in yeast, which means that they’re both easy to harness and a perfectly healthy solution for animal food products.
Ohly-GO® Meaty
Ohly-GO® Meaty is a yeast extract derived from Saccharomyces cerevisiae, providing delicate meaty notes as well as free amino acids and (small) peptides. It's particularly suited to carnivorous animals, and has shown great results in dog food.
