What is yeast beta-glucan?

Yeast beta-glucans are polysaccharides found in the cell walls of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, commonly known as baker’s yeast. We have evaluated the effects of NEIVA® Glucan Max on the phagocytic activity of monocytes, neutrophils and peritoneal macrophages and shown significant stimulation in all three cases. Phagocytic activity refers to the ability of specialized cells, known as phagocytes, to ingest and sometimes digest foreign particles, including pathogenic bacteria. These immune cells—such as macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes—play a crucial role in our body’s defence against infections.
